Violet was out with friends a couple of days later when she checked in on Jerry and asked about his sewing project. He sent her a picture of his dinner.

“Not the masterpiece I was expecting,” she wrote.

She sent him a video of the music she was enjoying and a photo of her with friends he had met. “You beasted my masterpiece.” Then he reacted to the photo with a heart. “Look at all y’all – lovely as ever.”

Violet joked back. “How did you know I’m not wearing any panties?”

“You don’t keep them on long when you’re around me.”

Their rhythm was becoming more comfortable, even if it wasn’t always consistent. They texted like friends with plenty of flirtation mixed in. It felt much more natural and real than the frenzied intensity of their early conversations.

Violet knew Jerry had been looking forward to seeing his kids, he had not been able to see them much since he lost custody. “It was the absolute best,” he wrote. “I think they’ve both grown 3 inches each.”

Violet’s birthday was coming up and she had bought herself something pink, sheer, and completely impractical in the best possible way. “My bday gift for myself arrived today,” she wrote.

Jerry knew exactly where to take that. “Oh my my my!! That looks like a birthday gift for me!” Then he asked, “When do I get to celebrate with you?”

While Violet was away on her birthday trip, she sent him pictures of her adventures. Jerry received the trip the way Violet hoped he would.

“I’m so glad that you’re getting this experience,” he wrote. “You deserve it. Please continue sending all of the amazing pics you want.”

Within the same week, Violet would turn fifty, mark a special Al-Anon anniversary, and become officially divorced. “Whole new chapter,” she wrote.

“Watch out world!” Jerry answered. “She’s getting her groove back.”

While Violet was still away, they started making a plan. They worked around his schedule and the uncertainty waiting for her at home, including how her mother was doing in rehab. Friday was tentative at first, but by the time she was back, it had become the night they settled on for her birthday celebration.

Violet sarcastically mentioned that she was very patiently waiting for the birthday celebration to arrive. “I enjoy knowing that you’re waiting patiently!!” Jerry wrote.

Then he added, “I still might need to tie you up.”

“50 👋🍑 may take a bit.”

Violet was excited. When Friday evening came she had not heard from Jerry. Violet sent a sweating sticker. When he answered, he said he had crashed after work and asked if she wanted to come over at nine.

Violet teased him that she had started to think he was making her sweat on purpose.

“Maybe…I was,” he wrote.

While she got ready, they joked about the AC and whether she would really come over naked. A little after nine, Violet drove to his house wearing only a sheer robe. Jerry told her the door was unlocked and to lock it behind her, then wrote, “I’m going to wear your 🍑 out.”

When she arrived, Jack was waiting for her in his room. The lights were low, candles lit, soft music playing. The bed was made with a large wedge pillow sitting at the foot. The whole room felt intentional.

Jerry undressed her slowly, even though there was not much to remove. The robe came off. Then the blindfold went on, and the room changed.

After that, Violet could not track the room by sight anymore. She followed it by touch and sound: his hands, his voice, the bed beneath her, the music in the background, the first pass of rope against her skin. Jerry worked with it for a while, wrapping it around her torso and arms, adjusting her, tightening, repositioning, making shapes she did not understand. The rope was unfamiliar, but his hands were not. Jerry moved with focus, like he knew exactly where he wanted her.

Then Jerry knelt her on the bed and bent her over the wedge.

The music shifted as the night went on. It became strange and dramatic, with moaning, not the kind of thing Violet would have chosen herself. It made the room feel less ordinary, more like she had been brought into something he had designed. She could not see what he was doing next, only hear him move and feel each change when it reached her body.

Jerry teased her for what felt like hours. He would touch her, then stop. Let her wait. Let her wonder what was coming next. His hands would return, then leave again. He moved between sensations slowly enough that the pauses became part of it, stretching her attention and keeping her body alert.

Sometimes the next thing was his hand. Sometimes it was something with a different weight or texture. Sometimes it landed sharp. Sometimes duller. Sometimes it surprised her more than it hurt. Nothing felt too painful, but it did not feel casual either. The birthday-spanking joke from the texts had sounded playful. In the room, Jerry meant it.

He kept her there, blindfolded and tied, bent over the wedge, while the teasing and impact built and stretched out. Jerry was serious about wearing her ass out.

Violet had never done anything like this before. She had tried light bondage. She liked sex. She liked being wanted. She liked some roughness sometimes. But she did not know rope. She did not know scenes. She did not know impact play as something with its own language and expectations.

She did not know this was an impact scene. She just knew Jerry had planned something for her birthday.

The longer it went on, the more the night felt centered on her body. The teasing, the pauses, the shifts in sensation, the way he kept returning to her pleasure instead of rushing toward sex, all of it made the experience feel deliberate. She did not orgasm, but she came closer than she expected to, especially blindfolded, tied, and outside anything familiar.

By the time they finally had sex, it felt like Jerry had put real effort into the evening. Not only into the candles and the room, but into giving her something intense, memorable, and focused on her.

Afterward, she stayed overnight as she often did. Jerry always wanted to hold her for a long time. They lay together entwined and talked for a long time, catching up on everything that had not fit inside the text thread. Violet told him about the trip: the water, the sunsets, the horseback ride, the feeling of being away from everything for a few days. Jerry made them snacks and they talked more.

Jerry spoke about his boys. He told Violet he had finally been able to kiss them again after not seeing them for a while. He talked about supervised visitation, mediation with his ex, and how much harder everything had become after the DUI.

Violet listened. She cared about his children. She cared that he missed them. She cared that the distance from them seemed to hurt Jerry deeply.

By morning, it did not feel like a hookup or a scene that ended when the sex did. Jerry had celebrated her birthday and given her an experience he had clearly prepared for. He had taken his time with her body. He had paid attention to her reactions, her pleasure, the places where anticipation became almost as powerful as touch. The care felt deliberate. It felt personal.

Violet still was not trying to make Jerry her partner. She did not need that from him. But the connection felt more authentic than it had before, less like trying to understand a man who kept shifting and more like being allowed to know him. That night, it felt as if some of the care she had offered him was being returned.

She left feeling seen, respected, and cared for.
